A wet room is a shower room that eliminates the shower screen and tray for an open, fully tiled shower area.

A wetzone is essentially a smaller version of a wetroom with a raised platform, whereas wetrooms cover the entire floor area. Wetzones are easier to install as there is no need to remove the floorboards.

When installing a wet room gradients need to be created along the floor to channel the water and the room needs to be waterproofed. Waterproofing a wetroom or wetzone involves priming the floor and the lower section of the walls as well as the whole of the wall area around the shower. Once this has been carried out the room is then tiled. Bridlewood Wetrooms recommends small mosaic tiles as being the best choice for wet flooring systems.
